Grace under pressure

Patti Mangan – Founder

An intuitive business strategist, Patti founded Imagine That in 1985 after studying graphic design at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. She has an easygoing approach to creative problem solving, and her insightful perspective leads to design that is as fresh as it is effective. Working with a smile and a down-to-earth attitude, Patti has built the business largely on referrals, and is recognized in the industry for her ability to sustain successful long-term client relationships.

Patti established WBENC status as a minority owned business for Imagine That Design Studio – learning so much from this nationwide organization – opening up opportunities to help corporations attain their diversity goals.

In 2019 Patti supported the launch of Sail Sport Talk and continues as a producer for the international weekly talk show. She researches, identifies and books guests worldwide on the topic of sailing and boating in general. Occasionally she co-hosts the show when needed or personally connected with the guest of the week.

In January of 2022 Patti accepted the position of Executive Director of the Fillmore Merchants Association – established in 1907. Challenging as it is in a post pandemic city – the constant learning curve is enlightening and enjoyable.

Extremely active in the arts, non-profit and travel/hospitality community, she is the Co-Founder and publishing force behind Tango Diva – an online travel magazine and social network empowering women to travel.

Patti is an active Board Director of VIDA – a Bay Area non-profit providing medical relief to Latin America, and the Membership Officer for South Beach Yacht Club in San Francisco and last but not least – an avid member of NATAS – essentially films.

She has served as a judge for many design competitions over the years, as an entrepreneurial mentor, and as an arbiter for Printing Industries of Northern California.

She has presided over Artists in Print, served on the HOW DESIGN Conference Advisory Council and served on the award-winning “STEP in design” Magazines Advisory Board.

She is a sailor and her sail boat resides in Santa Barbara where she was born and will eventually retire to. In 2020-21 she served on the Board of Recreational Boaters of California.

In 2021 she served as Commodore for Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association, established in 1896 – which serves 110 Yacht Clubs in Northern California. Now she is a PICYA Staff Commodore – and a few friends affectionately refer to her as “Commodore”.
